Description
A stunning vintage Boujad tribal art rug, made in the 1980s. It is made from quality wool. The checkerboard design is wonderfully abstract, colourful and creative, forming a unique work of art. It could be likened to paintings by specialist abstract artists such as Paul Klee. If you are looking for a rug full of life and vibrancy in your home, then this could be the one for you.
I love the rich complementary colour palette on this rug and admire the amazing skill of the weaver to produce such a clever work of art. Really stunning!"

About Boujad rugs
Rugs from the Boujad region of Morocco, woven by the women of the Al Haouz plain, can generally fall into three categories:
- Classic tribal designs featuring geometric shapes surrounded by a decorative border.
- Art rugs featuring checkerboard patterns or simply large blocks of colour, sometimes leading the designs to be compared with the works of artists such as Klee or Rothko.
- Abstract weavings – a creative mix of tribal motifs, shapes and lines in bright contrasting colours, sometimes accompanied by recognisable motifs of people, animals, teapots or scenes from memory.
The tribal art rugs made in this region are much sought-after due to their very creative nature. This really is tribal art at its best!
